Hayley Erbert Recovery: Dancing with the Stars judge Derek Hough showed his sincere gratitude for the support he has received after his wife Hayley Erbert’s recent health crisis in a poignant Instagram post on Friday. The 29-year-old dancer had an emergency craniectomy, and is now recuperating.

The 38-year-old Derek started off his statement by thanking everyone for their unwavering support and well wishes during this difficult time. He was at a loss for words when it came to expressing his gratitude for the outpouring of support from both friends and admirers.

Derek is most impressed by his wife’s fortitude and tenacity, which have been evident throughout the past 48 hours. Derek’s life partner and fellow dancer Hayley experienced a medical issue while they were in Washington, D.C. for their Symphony of Dance tour. An emergency craniectomy—a surgical technique in which a part of the skull is removed to relieve pressure—was necessary as a result of the occurrence to treat a cerebral hematoma, or collection of blood inside the skull.

Derek went on, “The kindness we’ve received in this incredibly unfathomable, life-changing time is immeasurable.” Derek hopes that as a family, they can find methods to return this compassion in the future. The offers of help have been both humble and appreciated.
