Remy pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Waltham District Court, where he was accused with murder and assault and battery in the death of 27-year-old Jennifer Martel. Karen Anderson of WBZ-TV reported that prosecutor Lisa McGovern presented graphic details of the assault while Remy sat in court, appearing enraged and showing no remorse.

Thursday evening at approximately 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the Windsor Village complex in response to a stabbing report. According to their investigation, Remy and his attacker fought in the kitchen, on the stairs, in the living room, and on the patio of Remy’s townhouse.

Several witnesses contacted emergency services in response to the altercation. Officers were informed by witnesses who observed Remy repeatedly attacking Martel with a knife on the terrace. Remy allegedly swung the blade at the person who intervened to stop the altercation.

According to McGovern, when officers arrived, Remy was covered in blood. According to court documents, he allegedly concealed a diamond ring inside an eyewear case. In 2009, after seven years of dating, the couple decided to take the next step and become engaged.

Remy’s attorney stated that his client’s injuries to the cranium and hands were self-inflicted “defensive wounds.” Police discovered Martel haemorrhaging profusely from stab wounds to the shoulder and neck outside on the patio. Her visage was concealed by a blue cloth, and she wore no clothing.

Police remained at the apartment throughout the night, and at 3 a.m., the medical examiner’s office removed her body. Four-year-old Martel and Remy’s daughter was in the apartment during the incident but escaped unharmed.

According to the police, Jared Remy assaulted and battered Martel three days earlier by pushing him against a restroom mirror. On Wednesday, he was arrested, charged formally, and released on his own recognisance.

She was a respectable and caring human being. She appeared to be beaming constantly. Richard Martel, her grandfather, attests to her tenacity. Martel told WBZ-TV that he had not seen his granddaughter in more than a year, but he had heard that she was planning to abandon Remy due to their relationship problems.

Jerry Remy and the Red Sox have not yet spoken. Jerry Remy, the father of the defendant, was absent during his son’s arraignment. Attorney for the family, Peter Bella, characterised Remy as “devastated.”

On Friday morning, late, one of Jerry Remy’s coworkers Tweeted a brief missive to his account.

NESN, Jerry Remy’s employer, issued the following statement on Friday afternoon.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030 reports that fifteen complaints have been lodged against Jared Remy since 1998. There are six physical assault allegations. According to WBZ, Remy has been charged with assault and battery in 2005, 2003, and 1998.
