Jordan Peterson Illness: In 2019 and 2020, Jordan Peterson experienced severe health issues due to benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome. But he persisted, and in 2021 he accomplished much. Peterson’s third book, “Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life,” was an instant bestseller because it provided readers with a plethora of wisdom and insight.

Peterson also caused a stir in 2021 when he unexpectedly resigned as a psychology professor at the University of Toronto. But now, he believed, was the moment to pursue his passions. Peterson no longer teaches, but he maintains contact with his fans through podcasts. In his lectures, he has discussed, among other topics, politics, psychology, philosophy, and self-improvement.

Jordan Peterson Illness

According to Mikhaila, he came close to passing away multiple times during his medical ordeal. After weeks of intensive care, he was unable to speak or write and was taking anticonvulsants.

Physicians and non-specialists equally were perplexed by the news. What was Peterson doing in Russia while in a drug-induced coma? On the basis of interviews with medical professionals and a close reading of statements Mikhaila and Peterson have made in podcasts and on social media, it is evident that Peterson ended up in Russia after a lengthy battle to wean himself off clonazepam. And it appears that Peterson, a self-proclaimed scientist, succumbed to the allure of a dubious treatment, with disastrous results.

Peterson’s saga has been primarily covered by conservative news outlets, which have almost exclusively relied on a disjointed narrative presented by Mikhaila, a nutrition “influencer” with no medical credentials who claims to have cured her idiopathic juvenile arthritis, clinical depression, and a C. difficile infection by eating nothing but meat, salt, and water. Peterson advocated for his daughter’s snake oil diet and even adopted it himself. In July 2018, he revealed to celebrity podcaster Joe Rogan that, at his daughter’s suggestion, he had been consuming nothing but beef, salt, and water for two months, following a year of eating almost nothing but steak and salad. It is unknown whether Peterson maintained this extreme diet.
