Nashville school shooting: Prekindergarten through sixth-grade pupils of the school were being transported to Woodmont Baptist Church, two miles away, to be reunited with their parents.
Nashville school shooting: Monday, three children and three adults were mowed down at a private Christian school in Tennessee, authorities said, before the gunman was killed by police.
The shooting occurred at The Covenant School on Burton Hills Boulevard in Nashville, where officers “engaged” the assailant, who police described in an afternoon news conference as a teenage girl.
The shooter was slain on the second floor of the school, according to a spokesperson. She was in possession of two “assault rifles and a handgun,” according to the official.
Prekindergarten through sixth-grade pupils of the school were being transported to Woodmont Baptist Church, two miles away, to be reunited with their parents.
Earlier, a Vanderbilt University Medical Center spokesperson verified that three pediatric patients with gunshot wounds were transported to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
All three infants and two adults were declared dead upon arrival.
The Nashville Fire Department initially alerted the community via Twitter: “We are responding to an active aggressor at 33 Burton Hills Blvd. Covenant School.”
“We are able to corroborate that we have multiple patients. At this time, parents visiting the school should go to 20 Burton Hills. This is a dynamic scenario.”
