One Dead and Nine Injured in Swedish Roller Coaster Accident: Tragic Strikes

Witnesses described the scene at Gröna Lund Park as chaotic, with one car dangling precariously from the train's front end that appeared to have flown off the tracks.

One Dead and Nine Injured in Swedish Roller Coaster Accident: A roller coaster train at a Stockholm amusement park derailed on Sunday, sending some riders tumbling and leaving one person dead and nine others injured.

Witnesses described the scene at Gröna Lund Park as chaotic, with one car dangling precariously from the train’s front end that appeared to have flown off the tracks.

One Dead and Nine Injured in Swedish Roller Coaster Accident:

According to park CEO Jan Eriksson, “the front of the train partially derailed and stopped on the track at a height of between 6 and 8 metres (between 20 and 25 feet)”. There were a total of 14 passengers, one of whom passed away and several of whom were hurt.

Nine people were hospitalised, one of whom was in a critical condition, according to the local authorities. According to the report, three of the injured were children and had relatively minor injuries.

Ziba Assadi, who was standing just beneath the Jetline roller coaster, reportedly saw one of the ride’s cars’ wheel assembly fall to the ground. This is according to Swedish station TV4.

“Then the car stops, and people fly out, fall out of the car,” she remarked.

Three people were inside the automobile, according to the witnesses, but two of them were ejected before one of them clung to the pavement. Images taken at the scene showed a man standing on a beam underneath the stopped train. He therefore waits while straddling the shaft, according to Assadi. Complete pandemonium reigned.

The theme park was shut down for seven days while experts tried to figure out what went wrong after the evacuation.

Annika Troselius, a spokesman for Gröna Lund, said, “This should not be allowed to happen.” “For us, safety is the most crucial factor. We need to look into this properly since we would never open an attraction if we were unsure about its safety.

Involuntary homicide, bodily harm, and jeopardising the lives of others are all plausible claims that have prompted law enforcement officers to launch a criminal inquiry.

Gröna Lund claims that the 800-meter-long (2,600-foot-long) Jetline rollercoaster, which first debuted in 1988, underwent improvements in 2000.

It is capable of reaching heights of up to 30 metres (98 feet) and speeds of up to 90 kilometres per hour (56 miles per hour). Sweden’s oldest theme park, Gröna Lund, started welcomed visitors in 1883.
