£140 Cold Weather Payment: Discussing Payment Dates and Eligibility

Following each particularly cold spell in your region, you ought to get paid within 14 business days.

£140 Cold Weather Payment: The Warm Home Savings Scheme reopened in November to offer a one-time £140 savings on your electricity bill in preparation for the next winter season.

If you qualify, the funds are taken out of your October 2022–March 2023 electricity payment. The reduction will not be paid to you directly, nor will it have an impact on your winter fuel or cold weather expenses.

You might be eligible for the discount on your gas payment instead if your supplier sells both gas and electricity under a dual fuel tariff.

Your application procedure will vary based on which of the two methods you choose to be eligible for the programme.

This is where you will get the information you need.

£140 Cold Weather Payment

If the average daily temperature in your location is recorded as, or predicted to be, 0 degrees Celsius or lower for seven days in a row, you will get paid.

For each seven days of extremely cold weather between November 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, you will receive £25.
