80% VA Disability Rate 2025: What a Veteran with Spouse, Two Parents & Child Gets Each Month

According to the VA’s 2025 compensation rate tables (effective December 1, 2024), the monthly payment for an 80% disability rating for a veteran with a spouse and two parents (but no child listed) is $2,488.89 USD per month.

80% VA Disability Rate 2025: If you are a veteran with an 80% disability rating, and you have a dependent spouse, two dependent parents, and one dependent child, here’s what you need to know about what your monthly compensation looks like for 2025 along with a breakdown of how this figure is calculated, and what to watch out for.

What the 80% Rating Means?

When the VA assigns an 80% disability rating, that means your service-connected condition(s) are assessed to reduce your earning capacity by 80% (in effect). The VA uses that rating to determine your basic monthly compensation rate, which is then adjusted for cost-of-living and for dependents.

Importantly: For ratings of 10% or 20%, veterans do not receive increased compensation for dependents. But once you hit 30% or more, dependents (spouse, children, and sometimes parents) can raise your benefit.

80% VA Disability Rate 2025

According to the VA’s 2025 compensation rate tables (effective December 1, 2024), the monthly payment for an 80% disability rating for a veteran with a spouse and two parents (but no child listed) is $2,488.89 USD per month.

To quote the table:

Veteran with Spouse and Two Parents (no children) — 80% rating … 2,488.89

Since your scenario adds one child, you’ll also need to add the “child under age 18” additional amount for an 80% rating.

Child Dependent Adjustment

For the 2025 rate tables:

Each additional child under age 18 adds $84.00 per month for an 80% rating.

The base for “one child + spouse + two parents” (as appears in some tables) is $2,614.89 USD per month.

Therefore, if you have one child in addition to a spouse + two parents, your rate is $2,614.89 USD/month (as per “Veteran with Spouse, Two Parents and Child — 80% rating”).

80% VA Disability Rate 2025: Monthly Compensation Estimate

Putting this together:

80% rating → base for spouse + two parents = $2,488.89

Add for one child under 18 = +$84.00

Total estimated monthly compensation = $2,572.89 USD

(Note: The table showed $2,614.89 for “Spouse, Two Parents and Child” → meaning possibly they already included the child addition. So the estimate is approx $2,614.89 USD/month.)

Important Things to Check

The tables we cite assume the dependent status is correctly approved. If one of your dependents is not approved (for example, a parent not financially dependent according to VA rules), your payment may be lower.

These are basic compensation rates. If you qualify for Special Monthly Compensation (SMC) due to loss of limb, blindness, need for aid & attendance, etc., the rate could be higher.

If you receive other payments (military retirement pay, severance, etc.), some offsets or reductions could apply.

Always refer to the official VA tables or consult a Veterans Service Officer (VSO) rates can change as of December 1 each year.
