Are You Eligible For An Amazon Prime Refund? Here’s What To Know

Amazon Prime Refund Eligiblity: Some Amazon Prime customers may still be able to get money back because of a big FTC settlement tied to how Prime sign-ups and cancellations worked. The FTC said Amazon used “dark patterns” that made it easy to join Prime but hard to leave it. The official FTC refund page says Amazon began sending claim notices in January 2026 to eligible Prime customers who did not already get an automatic refund. It also says automatic refunds were sent in November and December 2025 for some people. If you were one of the affected customers, the next step depends on whether you got a notice and whether you already received a payment.

Who Qualifies?

According to the FTC, the main eligibility rule is simple to understand.

You must be an Amazon Prime customer based in the United States.
You must have signed up for Amazon Prime between June 23, 2019 and June 23, 2025.
Your Prime membership must have been created through one of the sign-up methods covered by the settlement.
You must have used fewer than three Amazon Prime benefits during any 12-month period after joining.

The settlement website says eligible customers may get up to $51, though the final amount can depend on the claims process and the number of approved claims. The site also says people may receive payment by check, PayPal, or Venmo. Some customers will be able to submit a claim form even if they do not have a Claim ID or PIN, once the claim window is open.

The FTC says the process is being handled by Amazon, not the FTC, so people should use the official settlement contact email, admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com, for help with claim forms or payments.

If you got a notice, it should explain whether you need to file a claim, what deadline applies, and what documents you may need. If you did not get a notice, you may still be able to check your status on the settlement website once claims are available. It is also wise to avoid random websites or social media posts asking for personal or banking details, because official notices are the most reliable source for deadlines and payment timing.
