  1. To italicize your message, place an underscore on both sides of the text:
    Example: _text_

  2. To bold your message, place an asterisk on both sides of the text:
    Example: *text*

  3. To strikethrough your message, place a tilde on both sides of the text:
    Example: ~text~

  4. To monospace your message, place three backticks on both sides of the text:
    Example: “text“

Note:

Additionally, shortcuts are available on both Android and iPhone devices.

Android:

Using the text field, tap and hold the text to select Bold, Italic, or More. Tap More to select Strikethrough or Monospace.

iPhone:

You can choose Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, or Monospace depending on the text you are entering in the text field.

Whatsapp web version:

It is not possible to format text in WhatsApp using shortcuts. Therefore, you must use the above-mentioned methods.
