Ajith Kumar Early Years
Ajith is the son of Mohini Kumar, who is from Kolkata, and P. Subramaniam. He was born in Hyderabad. The actor has two brothers: Anoop Kumar, a stockbroker in New York, and Anil Kumar, a Seattle-based IIT Madras graduate. Ajith also had two twin sisters who both passed away at a tender age.

Ajith Kumar began his film career in 1990 with an uncredited role as a high school pupil in En Veedu En Kanavar. Three years later, in 1993, he made his official debut in the Telugu-language film Prema Pusthakam. The leading character in the film directed by Gollapudi Maruthi Rao is played by another debutante, Kanchan.
After his first significant success, Ajit starred in films such as Paasamalargal (1994), Pavithra (1994), and Aasai (1995) over the next couple of years.
