Drew Gilbert: Profession and Accomplishments

As a secondary school student, Gilbert participated in baseball and contributed to Stillwater’s first state championship in decades. He had an outstanding junior season, batting.400 and striking out 100 times. In his senior year, he received multiple accolades for his outstanding performance on the field.

During his senior year of baseball, Drew had 97 strikeouts and allowed only one run in 49 innings. He performed well at the plate as well, with a.370 batting average and eight stolen bases. Drew, despite being recruited by the Minnesota Twins, declined to enroll and instead committed to play for the Tennessee Volunteers following a coaching change at Oregon State.

Gilbert played baseball for Tennessee in 2020 prior to the cancellation of the season due to COVID-19. In 2021, he became the team’s primary center fielder and was twice named SEC Rookie of the Week. Gilbert garnered national recognition when, during a tournament game against Wright State, he hit an ultimate grand slam, leading Tennessee to victory.

Drew was named the Most Valuable Player of the Knoxville Regional for blasting a home run in every game and leading Tennessee to its first Super Regional in 16 years. He participated in 67 games and concluded the season with a batting average of.274, 10 home runs, 62 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases.

Gilbert was named to the All-SEC First Team as Tennessee’s starting center fielder during the 2022 season. Nonetheless, he was ejected from the Super Regional game against Notre Dame for disputing a strike call and received a one-game suspension.

Tennessee lost the final contest despite the return of Drew. During the course of the season, he competed in 58 games and compiled impressive statistics, including a.364 batting average, 11 home runs, and 70 RBIs. Gilbert was drafted by the Houston Astros with the 28th overall pick in the premier tournament in 2022. He inked a $2,500,000 contract with the team. Check out Gwyneth Paltrow’s net worth as well.
