Krishna Biography: Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy (31 May 1943 – 15 November 2022) was an Indian actor, director, and producer best known for his performances in Telugu cinema. In a career spanning more than five decades, he played diverse roles in more than 350 films. He is referred to as “Superstar” in Telugu-language media. The Indian government awarded him the Padma Bhushan in 2009 for his contributions to Indian cinema. In 1989, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the Congress party. In addition to receiving the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award – South in 2008, he received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award – South in 1997. On November 15, 2022, he passed away due to cardiac arrest.

Early Years
Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy [1] was born in Burripalem village, Tenali block, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh on May 31, 1943 (at the time of his demise, he was 79 years old). [2] His astrological sign is Gemini. In order to conclude his primary education, Krishna enrolled in a local school in Burripalem, Andhra Pradesh. Later, in order to conclude his studies, Krishna moved to Andhra Pradesh’s Tenali and Narsapur. He completed his bachelor’s degree at C. R. Reddy College in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. [3] Since he was in college, Krishna has desired to be an actor. He actively participated in numerous theatrical productions and cultural activities.
Krishna Career
Krishna’s early film roles were in films such as Kula Gothralu, Padandi Mundhuku, and Paruvu Prathishta. He was selected as the male protagonist in the 1965 film Thene Manasulu, which was released as scheduled. Krishna’s triumph occurred between 1966 and 1975, with roles in Gudachaari 116 by Doondi and Sunderlal Nehta, which introduced the espionage genre to Telugu cinema. He also acted in Marapurani Katha, Atthagaaru Kotthakodalu, and Undamma Bottu Pedatha. Krishna founded his own production company, Padmalaya Films, and produced several films with substantial budgets.
He also founded Vijaya Krishna Films, which produced critically acclaimed movies such as Meena and Devadassu. In 1975, Krishna had fourteen consecutive failures, except for Cheekati Velugulu. He produced Paadi Pantalu, appeared in Kolleti Kapuram, Bhalee Dongalu, and Devudee Gelichaadu, and appeared in Kurukshethram between 1976 and 1989. Between 1978 and 1986, he acted in films like Anna Dammula Sawaal, Kumara Raja, Agent Gopi, Indradanassu, Allari Bulloodu, Sakthi, and Agni Parvatam. In the 1990s, Krishna’s films Naa Pilupee Prabhanjanam and Anna Thammudu propelled him to prominence as a Telugu film director.
After Raktha Tharpanam failed to capitalise on his blockbuster Bazaar Rowdy, he took a hiatus from his work. In 1993 and 2000, Krishna returned with Pacchani Samsaaram and Varasudu, respectively. He directed the Hindi films Number 1 and Amma Donga. In 2008, Krishna was awarded an honorary doctorate by Andhra University. He was also a member of the Indian administration.
Family
Krishna was a member of a traditional Chowdhary farming family.
Ghattamaneni Raghavaiah Chowdary, Krishna’s father, was a cultivator. The name of his mother is Ghattamaneni Nagaratnamma. Ghattamaneni Adi Seshagiri Rao, an Indian film producer, and Ghattamaneni Hanumantha Rao, an Indian film producer and screenwriter, were Krishna’s two siblings. He has two sisters, Aliveelumangamma Ghattamaneni and Lakshmi Tulasi Ghattamaneni.

Krishna Personal Life
Krishna had two marriages. Indira Devi, his first wife, was a housewife.
Krishna and Indira are the parents of two sons, Ramesh Babu and Mahesh Babu. Ramesh Babu was an Indian actor and film producer who passed away on January 8, 2022, at the age of 56, due to a protracted illness with the liver. Mahesh Babu is an accomplished actor and producer.
Padmavathi Ghattamaneni, an Indian producer, Manjula Ghattamaneni, an Indian film producer and actress, and Priyadarshini Ghattamaneni, a housekeeper, are their three daughters.
In 1967, Krishna met actress, director, and producer Vijaya Nirmala on the set of the Telugu film Sakshi. In 1969, Krishna divorced his first wife, Indira, and wed Vijaya Nirmala.

Krishna Death
Krishna suffered a heart attack on 14 November 2022 and was taken to a hospital in Hyderabad. His health began to decline, and he was placed on a ventilator. On November 15, 2022, early in the morning, he passed away at the age of 79.[24] [25][26][27] Krishna was cremated on 16 November 2022 with complete state honours.
