Jay B Biography: Born on January 6, 1994, Lim Jae-beam, often known as Jay B, has dedicated his life to being an all-around artist. During a contest in 2009, JYP Entertainment discovered him. Along with another performer named Jinyoung, he went on to win first place, and his career started. After forming the JJ Project in 2012 and putting out an album, Jay B and Jinyoung made their debut as a part of the seven-piece boy band GOT7. From an early age, he had aspirations of being a singer. In middle school, he began b-boying with pals during his third year. At the time, he went by Defsoul from the song “Just Friends” by Musiq Soulchild. As much as the musical arrangement intrigued him, so did hip-hop culture. Career

Given that he majored in film at Konkuk University, it is not surprising that he was chosen for his first acting role in “Dream High 2” in 2011 and made his album debut as JJ Project in 2012 alongside Jinyoung. He appeared in another drama in 2013 called “When a Man Falls in Love,” just before JJ Project made his debut as a member of the boy band GOT7. After that, he began performing under the stage name Jay B. and dropped his debut solo single, “Switch it Up,” featuring Sokodomo. He shot to the top of charts like the “Gaon Download Chart” and became the first Korean soloist to appear on the “Billboard R&B Digital Song Sales Chart and Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Digital Song Sales Chart” following the release of the R&B version.

Lim’s eagerly anticipated debut solo EP, “SOMO: Fume,” was made available digitally and physically in August 2021.
