Judd Asher Nelson Biography: On November 28, 1959, film actor Judd Asher Nelson was born in Portland, Maine. Nelson is the progeny of corporate attorney Leonard Nelson and court mediator Merle Nelson. Nelson was up in a happy family with his parents, Julie and Eve, and his two sisters. The actor attended both St. Paul’s School and Waynflete School. Following his high school graduation, Nelson enrolled at Haverford College in Pennsylvania. He abandoned education two years later in order to pursue his ambition of becoming an actor. Nelson began enrolling in acting courses at the Stella Adler Conservatory after relocating to New York City.

Nelson began his professional acting career in the 1980s. In 1984, he received his first significant role in the adolescent comedy “Making the Grade.” In 1985, he was selected to appear in the movie “Fandango.” That year, Nelson landed roles in two films that would revolutionize his career and establish him as a household figure. In addition to starring as John Bender in the adolescent coming-of-age film “The Breakfast Club,” Nelson was also enlisted, along with several of his co-stars from the film, for the film “St. Elmo’s Fire.” Nelson and a group of teenage actors—Annie McCarthy, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Molly Ringwald, Rob Lowe, and Demi Moore—became known as the Brat Pack at that time. In the 1980s, this ensemble became renowned for their performances in coming-of-age adolescent films.

During the 1980s, Nelson appeared in a number of successful films, including “Billionaire Boys Club,” “The Transformers: The Movie,” and “Blue City.” Beyond “The Outer Limits” (2000) and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (2006), Nelson has also appeared in “CSI: NY” (2007), “Las Vegas” (2007), and “Eleventh Hour” (2008), among other television series. Following a New York Magazine article, the media subsequently started to label Nelson and his co-stars as the “Brat Pack.” For the summer 1985 release of the Joel Schumacher drama “St. Elmo’s Fire,” members of the Brat Pack reunited, including additional cast members Rob Lowe and Demi Moore.

The video followed Georgetown University graduates as they adjusted to adulthood. From a $10 million budget, the film grossed approximately $40 million, despite mixed reviews. The US number-one music video for “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion)” starred Nelson.

After “The Breakfast Club” and “St. Elmo’s Fire,” Nelson was cast in “Blue City” alongside Brat Pack actress Ally Sheedy and voiced “The Transformers: The Movie.” In the 1980s, Nelson directed “Relentless,” “From the Hip,” and “Far Out Man.”
