Career
Following his graduation from the University of Michigan, Larry enrolled in Stanford University to study computer science. He has to select a dissertation topic as a requirement of the programme. He ultimately made the choice to investigate the World Wide Web’s mathematical characteristics and link structure. His most important insight was that the number of backlinks a website acquired from other websites might be used to evaluate its quality. This discovery was similar to how citations are evaluated for quality in the academic community.
Eventually, Larry and a fellow PhD student called Sergey Brin collaborated on the “Backrub” project. They collaborated to write a study titled “The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine”. At the time, their paper had received more scientific document downloads than any other in internet history.
They then created an algorithm that assigned a quality score to each website on the internet using the Backrub web crawler. They gave this algorithm the moniker “PageRank” in honour of both Larry’s last name and an internet page. The next natural development after creating a crawler and an algorithm was a search engine to show results.
In 1998, Larry and Sergey founded Google as a private company after essentially being expelled from campus for abusing too many university computer resources. Actually, the first domain name was “Googol,” which is a number made up of one followed by one hundred zeros. They started out with a $100,000 investment from David Cheriton, one of their Stanford teachers. The $100,000 that Cheriton invested would ultimately be worth more than $2.3 billion.

Beginning in 2009, the Pages bought up and demolished the majority of the houses close to their main residence.
A 193-foot yacht called Senses cost $45 million to be purchased by Larry in 2011.
