On January 31, 2014, the fast bowler made his ODI debut against India. The Black Caps won the match by a score of 87 runs thanks to his figures of 4/38 in 10 overs.
A year later, he made his test début against England and took six wickets in a losing effort. Since then, Henry has been a consistent member of the squad, but not the starting eleven, as Trent Boult and Tim Southee are the preferred bowlers.
