The birthplace of Park Jae-hyung is Buenos Aires, Argentina. He migrated to Cerritos, California, where he attended and graduated from Cerritos High School. He is better known as Jae. Afterwards, he enrolled at California State University to pursue Political Science. Throughout his high school and college years, he uploaded song adaptations to a YouTube channel titled “YellowPostItMan” In 2012, when the first season of the South Korean television competition series broadcast, Park took a leave of absence from school to compete as a guitarist and singer. He concluded the competition as a finalist, finishing sixth. However, he had already caught the attention of many eyes and listeners. At the conclusion of the show, J.Y.P. Their first EP was titled “The Day,” and their second EP “Daydream” was released in March of the following year. Day6 had six members, including Park: Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, Junhyeok, and Dowoon. However, Junhyeok departed the band prior to the release of Daydream, their second EP. In the meantime, Park became the presenter of “After School Club” on Arirang T.V., an English-language South Korean television network headquartered in Seoul. In 2017, he created a YouTube channel under the name “JaeSix,” but he renamed it “eaJ” in 2019 and began a personal music endeavour in 2020. He was a guest DJ on one of Arirang’s shows for some time, and in February 2020, he launched his first podcast, “How Did I Get Here?,” or H.D.I.G.H. for short. In 2020 and 2021, the podcast acquired a sizeable audience and won a number of awards. On December 31, 2021, Park announced that he was departing Day6 permanently for personal reasons and terminating his contract with J.Y.P. Entertainment.
In April 2020, Park was diagnosed with panic disorder. Later, he provided updates on Twitter regarding his condition and mental health experiences. He launched the “From Friends” campaign, sold apparel and other merchandise, and donated the proceeds to the Jed Foundation to support the provision of free mental health resources for youth. A few social media controversies have arisen from the star’s rocky life, including misunderstandings caused by “cultural differences.” However, he acknowledged his mistakes each time and apologised to all affected parties.
