Vijay Raghavendra Biography: Vijay Raghavendra is an Indian actor primarily seen in Kannada films. Vijay, also known as “Chinnari Mutha”, is the son of producer S. A. Chinne Gowda and the nephew of actor Dr. Rajkumar

Vijay began his career as a juvenile actor in the 1982 film Chalisuva Modagalu. His performances in Chinnari Mutha (1993) and Kotreshi Kanasu (1994) garnered critical acclaim. He garnered the National Film Award for Best Child Actor for the latter film.

Early years

Vijay Raghavendra was born to a family of film personalities in Bangalore, India. He started appearing in films starring his uncle Rajkumar. After appearing in approximately eight films as a poor actor, Vijay received formal training in acting in Chennai.

Film career

In 1982, as a child, Vijay played a minor part in Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s romantic drama Chalisuva Modagalu, alongside his uncle Rajkumar, Ambika, and his cousin Puneeth Rajkumar, credited as Master Lohith. In the 1989 film Parashuram, he performed a song alongside his cousin Puneeth Rajkumar. After a brief hiatus, he appeared in the 1991 remake of the 1971 Hindi film Jawani Diwani, Aralida Hoovugalu, directed by Chi. Dattaraj and co-starring Shiva Rajkumar. His subsequent film Chinnari Mutha was an enormous success, and he became a ubiquitous name in Karnataka. After that, he appeared in numerous films, including Kotreshi Kanasu, for which he won a National Award.

Teenaged Vijay appeared in three films in 1993: H. R. Bhargava’s novel-based drama Jaga Mechida Huduga, Renuka Sharma’s devotional Kollura Sri Mookambika, in which he portrayed a juvenile Shankaracharya, and T. S. Nagabharana’s Children’s film Chinnari Mutha.

His first mature role as an actor was in the 2002 box office smash Ninagagi, which he played opposite the debutante Radhika. The film was a remake of the Telugu blockbuster Nuvve Kavali, which ran for more than 100 days and set a record. Following this triumph, he signed two more films in the same year, neither of which was a box-office success. He has appeared in numerous films since then. His notable films are Kallarali Hoovagi, Rishi, Khushi and Kaaranji.

In 2010, Vijay did not have a single release. In 2011, his much-delayed films Shraavana, Vinayaka Geleyara Balaga, and the ensemble film Kalla Malla Sulla were released, with the latter two receiving positive reviews.

Personal Life

Vijay is the oldest offspring of S. A. Chinne Gowda and his wife, Jayamma. Sriimurali, his younger sibling, is a well-known Kannada film actor. Aunt Parvathamma Rajkumar was a prominent film producer and distributor in the Kannada film industry. The actors Shiva Rajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar, and Puneeth Rajkumar are his cousins. On 26 August 2007, he married Spandana, the daughter of B. K. Shivaram, Assistant Commissioner of Police. They have a son named Shourya.

Charity

In 2013, it was announced that he had joined other Bollywood and international personalities in the TeachAids initiative, a Stanford University-developed approach to global HIV prevention.
