In 1992, they established the rap group Atban Klann with three other artists and were signed to Ruthless Records. will.i.am began his rapping career as Will-1X, recording the song “Merry Muthafucking Xmas” with Atban Klann. In 1995, he parted ways with Ruthless Records and co-founded the Black Eyed Peas with Pineda, who adopted the stage moniker apl.de.ap.

In 1998, the Black Eyed Peas inked a contract with Interscope Records and released their debut single, “Joints and Jam.” They issued their debut album, “Behind the Front,” in the same year that Interscope renewed their contract. Their second album, titled “Bridging the Gap,” was released in 2000. The following year, will.i.am released his first solo album, “Lost Change,” which was a smash success. While working on their third album, they realized that ‘Shut Up’ would benefit from female vocals and recruited singer Stacy Ann Ferguson as a permanent member. This album, “Elephunk,” was published in 2003 and peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200. Will.i.am also recorded and released his second solo album, “Must B 21,” during this period.

The Black Eyed Peas issued their fourth studio album, “Monkey Business,” in 2005. It was certified three times Platinum by the RIAA in the United States, and the group won the Grammy Award for ‘Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group’ for the single ‘Don’t Phunk With My Heart.’ After a brief hiatus, they issued two albums: “The E.N.D.” (2009) and “The Beginning.” (2010). Additionally, will.i.am released two more solo albums, “Songs About Girls” (2007) and “#willpower.” (2013). He has produced music for numerous artists, such as Cheryl, Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Kesha, and Britney Spears. The Peas’ seventh album, “Masters Of The Sun Vol. 1,” was published in 2018, and their eighth album, “Translation,” was released in 2020.
