Zsa Zsa Gabor Biography: Zsa Zsa Gabor, who was born on February 6, 1917, was a legendary singer, model, and 1950s comedy film actress. After winning Miss Hungary, the actress relocated to the United States to pursue an acting career. Initially starring in romantic and musical comedies, the actress expanded her acting repertoire to include science fiction and action films. During the latter half of the 20th century, she also starred in numerous television programmes and made numerous appearances on talk shows.
Zsa Zsa Gabor was born on February 6, 1917, in Budapest, Austro-Hungarian Empire, prior to the end of World War II. Her birth name was Sari Gabor. Her mother, Jolie, was a jeweller, while her father, Vilmos, was a Hungarian soldier. Richard Tauber, an Austrian opera singer, discovered her in 1934 while she was attending a Swiss boarding school and invited her to sing in his new production. Her performance marked her professional debut in the performing arts world. She won the Miss Hungary competition in 1936. Gabor and her sisters left their native country in 1941.
In 1952, she played her first of many iconic roles in the romantic comedy musical “Lovely to Look At” by Mervyn LeRoy. She also appeared as Jane Avril in the British drama film “Moulin Rouge” in the same year. She began starring in films outside the drama and romantic comedy genres towards the end of the 1950s, including Orson Welles’ film noir “Touch of Evil” and “Queen of Outer Space.” In 1968, she portrayed Minerva in an episode of the 20th Century Fox Television series “Batman,” which was based on the same-named D.C. Comics comic book.
Between the 1970s and the 1990s, Gabor continued to star in a number of popular comedy films, although most were poorly received by critics. In 1983, she starred alongside Patricia Arquette and Laurence Fishburne in the third installment of Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise, introducing her to an entirely new audience. In 1991, she published her autobiography and starred in an episode of the 1990s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” During the 2000s, Gabor experienced a variety of health issues, including partial paralysis from a car accident, two strokes, and a fractured hip. Less than three months before her 100th birthday, she passed away. Gabor has been married nine times, seven of which ended in divorce and one was annulled.
