CRPF Head Constable Bharti: Delhi HC directs 3 years age limit relaxation for CRPF head constable recruitment

The court noted that the delay in publishing the vacancy for the position had an impact on the prospects of candidates seeking appointment in the armed forces.

CRPF Head Constable Bharti: The Delhi High Court on Friday ordered the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to grant a three-year age relaxation to candidates taking the examination for the recruitment of head constables. In addition, the court stated that the authorities were negligent in publishing the vacancy, which came after six years. The court noted that the delay in publishing the vacancy for the position had an impact on the prospects of candidates seeking appointment in the armed forces.

Two petitions filed by prospective candidates were heard by a bench of Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Nina Bansal Krishna. Directions to the respondent authorities for relaxation of the upper age limit have been sought in these petitions. On December 27, 2022, an advertisement for the recruitment of Head Constable (Ministerial) in the CRPF-2022 was published. The deadline for applying for this position is January 25.

“At this juncture, we have no hesitation to observe that the procrastination and delay in publishing the vacancies after a gap of six years for recruitment to the said post has affected the future prospects of candidates like the petitioners Those who are willing and striving for appointment in the forces.

The court noted that the deadline for applying for the said post is January 25, and in light of this, it orders the respondents (CRPF and the Central Government) to issue a corrigendum on or before January 25, allowing three years of age relaxation as a one-time measure.

Let us inform you that there are 1458 vacancies in the Central Reserve Police Force for the positions of Assistant Sub Inspector and Head Constable. Candidates who are interested can apply online at crpf.gov.in. There are 143 openings for Assistant Sub Inspector Steno, and the remaining 1458 are for Ministerial Constables.
