The Nilamber Pitamber University which is functioning since 2009 (the year in which the Jharkhand government notified this university), is all set to move into its newly constructed administrative building on the sprawling campus of its own premier Ganesh Lal Agarwal College (GLA) in Daltonganj.
The NPU has been functioning from a rented building of the district administration since day one of the year 2009 with a whopping multi-thousand monthly payment of rent to the Zila Parishad Palamu.
On Monday, in a very low-key handover ritual, the registrar of the NP university Dr Rakesh Kumar received the letter of the transfer of the constructed administrative building from the manager cum executive engineer of the Jharkhand State Building Construction Corporation Limited Palamu, Manoj Kumar Jha.
NPU Registrar Dr Rakesh Kumar today told the lagatar24.com correspondent, “Our top brasses of the university had done a detour of this building quite recently and on Monday, I took the letter of transfer of the building from the official of the Jharkhand State Building Construction Corporation Limited.”
The manager cum executive engineer of the Jharkhand State Building Construction Corporation Ltd Palamu Manoj Kumar Jha, on the other hand, said “We did the Bhavan Hasthantaran to the registrar. There are still many more works to be done like a library, VC villa etc.”
“We are to do landscaping also besides creating green zone there. We have a two-phase campus development here in which right now we are working on phase 1 only,” Jha added. He said this in response to a query about the drainage system which needs to be further bettered here.
There is a provision for the centralised air conditioning in the new building on which Jha said “As it is a centralised cooling system, I believe for another 5 to 6 months the NPU officials will have to do it without any cool air of the air conditioner.”
Jha claimed that the facility for two lifts in the transferred building is available.
He claimed a similar thing about the availability of rooftop water management in this building. Rain water harvesting structure is now an added thing to any government building.
Proctor of NPU, Dr K C Jha, said: “Our senior officials are mooting to get the building inaugurated by someone holding the highest chair in the academic arena in the state.”
“It is a great moment for the university officials, teachers, non-teaching personnel and big of all the students of the university to have their own roof as this will shed off our being a tenant of the Zila Parishad all these 13 years following our inception in the year 2009,” the proctor added.
The project cost of the first phase is worth Rs 116 crores and this construction bore the brunt of the Coronavirus.
Manoj Kumar Jha said, “As far as I recollect, this project had started in 2018 but for two years (2020 and 2021) the dread of the Coronavirus halted the work and delayed it. There are lots of works left now to be completed here.”
The Pro Vice-Chancellor of NPU, Dr Deep Narayan Yadav, said: “We know how we have to go about this building and we believe the corporation will keep completing the remaining works of the first phase without any more delay.”
