Today marks International Day of Mathematics. Pi Day is another name for it. International Mathematics Day is observed to draw attention to the value of math in daily life and to pique students’ interest in the subject. Pi Day is observed on March 14 because Pi has a value of 3.14, the third day of the third month, and the fourteenth day of the fourteenth month. Pi is the reciprocal of the ratio of a circle’s diameter to its circumference.
The theme for Pi Day 2023 is Mathematics for Everyone this year. The physicist Larry Shaw organized the first large-scale celebration of this day in 1988. To start, a pie-shaped pie was cut to celebrate this day. The scientific community first accepted the value of pi after it was calculated by the great mathematician Archimedes.
