Jamia Millia Professor admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry

Fellowship in the Royal Society of Chemistry is awarded to professionals who have made exceptional contributions to the field of Chemical Sciences.

Prof. Tokeer Ahmad of the Department of Chemistry at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has been inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), United Kingdom, for his contributions to Functional Materials for Sustainable Green Hydrogen Energy.

Fellowship in the Royal Society of Chemistry is awarded to professionals who have made exceptional contributions to the field of Chemical Sciences. The admitted Fellows are granted the designation of Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and suffixed as FRSC. The use of the designatory letters “FRSC” indicates a person’s commitment to the chemical sciences in its entirety. The London newspaper ‘The Times’ will publish the names of newly admitted Fellows. The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) was founded in 1841 and is the largest organization in Europe dedicated to advancing the chemical sciences. RSC collaborates with industry and academia, advises governments on policy, and promotes the talent, collaboration, innovation, information, and ideas that result in significant advances in the chemical sciences.

Prof. Tokeer Ahmad earned a bachelor’s degree from IIT Roorkee and a doctorate from IIT Delhi. He is currently a full professor in the Department of Chemistry at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi. His research interests include the design of functional heterostructures for applications in nanocatalysis, sustainable green hydrogen energy production, and gas sensing. He has supervised 15 PhDs and is currently supervising 5 PhDs, 77 postgraduates, and 9 projects. He has published 170 research papers, two textbooks, and one edited book with more than 6065 research citations, an h-index of 46, and an i10-index of 124. Prof. Ahmad has reviewed 145 journals, given 141 invited/keynote/plenary lectures, presented 128 conference papers, and evaluated approximately 50 external doctoral dissertations.

Prof. Ahmad is a recipient of the DST-DFG award, the SMC Bronze Medal (BARC), the ISCAS Medal, the Inspired Teachers President Award, the Distinguished Scientist Award, the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Excellence Award of Education, the Teacher’s Excellence Award, and has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences India. In his recognized research field of Materials Chemistry, he has been ranked in the World’s Top 2% Scientists for four consecutive years, beginning in 2020, on two prestigious lists compiled by Stanford University in the United States, including a career-long listing.
