MSCB University seeks transfer of 5 depts: The authorities of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo (MSCB) University, Baripada, on Saturday urged the state government to approve Rs 37 crore for the construction of buildings and the establishment of laboratories at MSCB University as a result of the creation/transfer of five teaching departments to newly created Dharanidhar University, Keonjhar.
By establishing Dharaniyar University, the government has modified the territorial jurisdiction of MSCB University. On the second campus of the MSCB University in Keonjhar, five instructional departments (Odia, English, Sanskrit, geology, and material science) are currently in operation.
Sahadev Samadhia, registrar of MSCB University, stated, “We have already requested the higher education department to create or transfer these five departments to the main campus of the university at Baripada in place of those currently operating at MSCB University’s second campus in Keonjhar.”
In a letter to the department, the registrar submitted grant proposals for the construction of buildings and the establishment of laboratories to accommodate the new teaching departments and students at MSCB University, Baripada.
The university has requested Rs 5 crore for the construction of the geology department, Rs 4 crore for material science, Rs 2 crore each for Odia, English, and Sanskrit, Rs 8 crore for a 200-seat girls’ hostel, Rs 12 crore for staff quarters, and Rs 2 crore for laboratory apparatus and furniture. Samadhia stated that a detailed project report would be submitted to the department shortly.
Saturday, the university also informed the department of the preference of the teaching and non-teaching personnel of the five departments between MSCB University and Dharanishar University. A professor and an assistant professor from the Odia department and a professor from the Sanskrit department have chosen MSCB, whereas four assistant professors and an associate professor have chosen Dharanidhar University. Section officer and junior assistant have also chosen to pursue their careers at Dharanidhar University.
