Dr Shamim Akhtar, Associate Professor at the Centre for Continuing Adult Education and Extension, Aligarh Muslim University has been appointed as the Director of the centre for a period of two years with immediate effect.
A PhD in Education, Dr Akhtar has been engaged in teaching for over the last 20 years and has published more than 18 research papers in journals of repute. He has earlier served as the Supervisor and Assistant Project Officer in the centre and has vast experience in fieldwork, national campaigns in literacy and education, health and hygiene, national integration and human rights, and computer training and developmental awareness.
Dr Akhtar completed one year of Mass Motivation and Mobilization Training in Havana, Cuba from September 1984 to July 1985, after qualifying in an All India selection process.
