Odisha State to reimburse entire course fee: Prior to the election, the state administration of Bhubaneswar has taken the initiative to provide financial aid to scheduled tribe (ST) and scheduled caste (SC) students pursuing higher education.

Under the Mukhyamantri Medhabi Chatra Prosahan Yojana (MMCPY), a financial assistance programme, the government will reimburse all course fees for ST and SC students pursuing medicine and engineering at various government-run institutions.

Under this programme, eligible ST and SC students enrolled in government institutions offering MBBS and engineering courses (BTech and MTech) will have their complete course fee covered.

Odisha govt starts providing dry ration, learning materials to students not attending schools

The course fee includes the admission fee/seat acceptance fee/initial deposit, the annual course fee (tuition fee and all mandatory payable charges to institution), hostel admission fees, annual hostel/mess fees, and any other incidental expenses for study, such as the purchase of books/study materials and coaching/tutoring expenses.

“All such expenses duly signed by the dean/head of the institution and student may be forwarded to the district collector for reimbursement in accordance with the scheme.” Thus, the ST and SC development department of the Odisha government will pay for all eligible ST and SC pupils beginning in 2023-2024, according to an official letter issued by the department.

According to the department, the institutions will give adequate publicity to the scheme by affixing this on the notice orienting the faculties and authorities of the institutions, and mandating that each institution orient its students on September 11 and every month if that date is not a holiday.
