WBCS Prelims postponed: The West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) preliminary examination has been postponed by the West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC).
The test was originally slated to take place on November 5, 2023, but it has now been rescheduled. The new date will be made public on the official website, wbpsc.gov.in.
Originally slated for June 2023, the WBCS Prelim Exam 2023 was then moved to November 5, 2023.
The exam will now take place on November 5 (Sunday), according to the notification, which cites “unavoidable circumstances” as the reason. Initially scheduled for distribution in the second week of October, admit cards will also be postponed. WPSC Exam Format
The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) conducts the West Bengal Civil Service (Executive) Exam, also referred to as the WBCS (Executive) Exam, in order to select qualified candidates for various administrative positions within the West Bengal government. The test has three unique phases and is conducted annually.
- Prelims: Examining candidates’ knowledge of current events and general knowledge through multiple-choice questions, the preliminary round is an objective-style test.
- Main Exam: The Main Exam is a written test that comprises questions of a descriptive kind on subjects including General Studies, Essays, and an Optional Subject.
- Interview: The last step is an oral interview where the candidate’s personality, interpersonal abilities, and general aptitude for the various administrative tasks are assessed.
Candidates are finally shortlisted for appointment to various administrative jobs within the West Bengali government after passing all three levels of the examination. In addition to a wide range of other positions, these include those for District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, Block Development Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Jails, Assistant Superintendent of Excise, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Assistant Registrar of Cooperatives, and Assistant Superintendent of Jails.
Depending on the position they are chosen for and the number of years they have worked for the company, WBCS (Executive) officers earn a variety of salaries. All WBCS (Executive) officers, however, start out at about Rs. 56,000 per month. WBCS (Executive) officers are entitled to a number of benefits in addition to their base pay, including the Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA), and Medical Allowance (MA).
