Evans was born on June 18, 1957 in Aurora, Illinois. As a youth, Evans first appeared in commercials and regional theatre. After completing high school early, she enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Evans was recruited as a background actor for the 1978 Brian De Palma film The Fury and the 1978 miniseries The Awakening Land.

Evans was quickly cast as Tina Clayton on the ABC daytime soap opera One Life to Live, a role she held until 1981, courtesy of casting director Mary Jo Slater. From 1983 to 1984, Evans portrayed Patty Williams, Paul Williams’ junior sister and Jack Abbott’s wife, on The Young and the Restless.

Instead of Patty Williams, Tawny, played by Evans on The Bold and the Beautiful, will return to The Young and the Restless on April 6, 2010, according to TVGuide.com. The sole episode of the run aired on May 12, 2010. The temporary return of Evans as Tawny to The Bold and the Beautiful was announced on November 8 of that year.

Evans, who continued to make regular appearances on B&B, reprised her role as Tina on OLTL on September 27, 2011, as the show’s run came to a close.
