While Carly Pearce was performing on the radio in 2018, Michael Ray and she met for the first time. They told everyone on social media in July 2018 that they were dating, and they started dating soon after. They quickly became one of the most popular couples in country music because they talked about how much they loved each other so much in interviews and shows.

Ray asked Pearce to marry him while they were on vacation in Mexico in December 2018. The two said yes, and they are now engaged. They planned their wedding for a year, and on October 6, 2019, they got married at Nashville’s Drakewood Farm in front of one hundred guests. While they were in Jamaica, they celebrated their wedding and told their online fans about it.

Their jobs and personal lives were both very busy, though, so their marriage quickly fell apart. There were claims of cheating and problems in the marriage, which they strongly denied. Pearce later said that they “very quickly realized we were not meant to be” and that she “did everything I knew how to do” to save the marriage, but it wasn’t enough in the end.

Irreconcilable differences were the reason she asked for a divorce in June 2020. She said that decision wasn’t easy, but it was the right thing to do. Ray praised Pearce’s decision and sent his best wishes. He also said that he is seeing Tyler, Travis Tritt’s daughter.

Maren Morris Divorce: What was the reason behind the split?

What happened next?

Pearce stated that the year before her split was “single-handedly the hardest of my life” and that the pain and suffering made her wish she could die. She said she dealt with the attention of the public and the backlash from some friends while feeling sad, angry, nervous, and guilty.

She went on to say that her failed marriage had made her feel ashamed and embarrassed, and it had made her question her own views and values. Her experiences in therapy, which she used to deal with her breakup, were “life-changing” and helped her heal and grow as a person. Also, she turned to her family, friends, and other loved ones for comfort and support.

June, the Shih-Tzu puppy she got, was another “lifesaver” in her life. It was how she put it: music was both her “therapy” and her “outlet” for expressing herself. Because of how she felt and the split, she wrote and recorded new songs.

Her second solo record, 29, which came out in February 2021, did very well with both fans and critics. The Country Music Association gave her a “huge hug” when she and Lee Brice sang “I Hope You’re Happy Now” together, and she won a CMA award for it.

What’s to Come and the Hope for Love

Pearce said she was “proud of myself” and “stronger than I thought” after her finances got better recently. After her split, she was brave enough to be open and honest. This taught her a lot, she says. She also said that she no longer feels angry or bitter toward Ray or herself because she has forgiven him.

She was positive about her chances of finding love and said she wanted to be loved no matter what. She then said that she is single and has a hidden lover, but she wouldn’t say who it was. She talked about how excited she was about what was to come and how ready she was to take on any tasks that came her way.
