The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is learnt to have completed investigation of Rupa Tirkey (26) murder case and the agency is likely to submit the chargesheet before the special CBI court in Patna. The CBI is likely to file the chargesheet by the end of this month or the first week of August.
Pankaj Mishra, who is the MLA representative of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is an accused in this case along with Dahu Yadav. Pankaj Mishra is currently in police remand of the Enforcement Directorate where he is being questioned for his alleged involvement in the illegal mining. Dahu Yadav is also an accused in the illegal mining case. He was questioned by the ED a couple of days back.
However, it can’t be ascertained at this moment whether the CBI got anything incriminating against Pankaj Mishra and Dahu Yadav. Rupa Tirkey’s mother Padmavati Orain had alleged Pankaj Mishra and Dahu Yadav raped and murdered her daughter.
But the CBI is learnt to have examined at length the role of police officials who either investigated or supervised the investigation of the murder case of this lady cop. The agency recorded statements of around two dozen persons and also examined phone calls of Pankaj Mishra with several private personas and government officials during the period corresponding to the suspicious death of Rupa Tirkey.
26 years old Rupa Tirkey was posted at Sahibganj Mahila Police Station as sub inspector of Jharkhand Police. She was found hanging at her official quarter on the morning of May 3 2021. The police concluded it as a case of suicide and arrested the 2018 batch Sub Inspector Shiv Kanojia on May 9, 2021 on the charge of abetment of suicide.
But the family members disputed the police investigation and filed a PIL at Jharkhand High court to seek a CBI inquiry. The family contended that Rupa Tirkery was murdered by powerful persons of Sahibganj and named Pankaj Mishra also. On September 1 last year the court of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi ordered the CBI inquiry.
Padmavati Orain wrote a letter in which she blamed Pankaj Mishra and Dahu Yadav for sexually exploiting her daughter and said that both of them killed her. She also requested the CBI to investigate the role of two other lady cops. Padmavati said that her daughter during the course of her duty detained Pashupati Yadav who is the father of Dahu Yadav. She said that both are very influential persons of Sahibganj and they felt offended. She said that they forcefully released Pashupati Yadav from police custody and asked Rupa Tirkey to come to the residence of Pankaj Mishra. They persuaded Rupa Tirkey into a physical relationship. But she refused.
Her mother charged Sahibganj police with suppressing and destroying evidence that clearly indicated that Rupa Tirkey had not committed suicide, she rather was murdered. She said that the post-mortem was done in a very casual manner. Her viscera was not preserved and the post-mortem report was prepared on the instruction of the magistrate. She said that witnesses and circumstance evidence clearly indicate that her daughter was murdered in a very cruel manner. But since suspects are politically well connected witnesses cannot dare to speak against them. See urged the CBI director to give necessary instruction to the investigating officer to professionally investigate this case.
