Fatal Car Crash In Bay Shore: Saturday afternoon, Suffolk County police reported a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a Massapequa man in Bay Shore. Massapequa resident Devin Wolfe, age 30, was driving a 2017 Infiniti sedan traveling northbound on Howells Road, according to detectives.
Before 4:45 p.m., the vehicle veered off the road, mounts the curb, and collides with an overpass on Sunrise Highway. Nicholas Trovato, a witness from JTI’s American Kitchen & Bar, recalled seeing the automobile immediately prior to the collision.
He stated that the vehicle appeared to accelerate prior to swerving, ultimately striking an embankment and turning beneath the bridge. Witnesses who were on the site described their efforts to save the driver. However, their efforts were unsuccessful as the vehicle soon caught fire.
Suffolk County police say a Massapequa man was killed in a catastrophic single-car accident in Bay Shore.
Trovato disclosed that he had retrieved an object with the intent of shattering the car’s window when an abrupt explosion occurred, igniting the vehicle. Zach Sheridan, who was located across the street from the accident site, was able to feel the intense heat produced by the flames.
As of Saturday evening, the precise cause of the accident remained undetermined. Authorities continued their investigation, and Howells Road remained closed in the northbound direction. Anyone with information about the incident was urged to contact the Third Squad of the Suffolk County Police Department at 631-854-8390.
