In an interview published by Outsports on Thursday, July 20th, Maxen disclosed his sexual orientation. Maxen, who has been a member of the Jaguars since 2021, stated that he came out in order to influence others while remaining loyal to himself.

Maxen has been involved in football for many years, first as a Division III football athlete at Western Connecticut State University and later as a strength coach at Baylor and Vanderbilt.
The strength coach acknowledged that he struggled with his sexuality in college, but he is optimistic that the Jaguars’ players will respond positively to the news.
According to Maxen, his football accomplishments should dispel any doubts.
Maxen stated that his decision to come out was influenced by the team’s staff and players. Maxen observed other members of the organisation reveal their families, which inspired him to do the same.
Maxen disclosed that he has been dating Nick for more than two years, felt terrible that he couldn’t share that aspect of his life with him, and struggled to reconcile these feelings.
Marcus Pollard, the manager of player development for Jacksonville, praised Maxen.
Friday is the first day of training camp for Jaguars rookies, while Tuesday is the first day for the remainder of the team.
Jacksonville is coming off a 9-8 campaign in which it won the AFC South and defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in a historic wild-card matchup before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round.
