NEET, JEE 2020: Subramanian Swamy writes to PM Modi, Education Minister to conduct exams after Diwali

While the JEE Main examination is scheduled to be held between September 1 to 6, JEE advanced exam will take place on September 27. NEET examination will be held on September 13.

NEET, JEE 2020 update: With National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 and JEE Main 2020 exam dates continues to be caught in a whirlpool of uncertainties, Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal to conduct the entrance examinations  after Diwali in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic.

“I have just spoken to the Minister of Education suggesting that NEET and other exams be conducted after Deepavali. The SC order the other day is not a bar since the Hon’ble Court has left the date to the government. I am sending an urgent letter to the PM just now,” tweeted Swamy.

The tweet comes a four days after the Supreme Court dismissed a plea seeking postponement of JEE (Main) April 2020 and NEET-Undergraduate examinations saying precious year of students “cannot be wasted” and life has to go on.

While the JEE Main examination is scheduled to be held between September 1 to 6, JEE advanced exam will take place on September 27. NEET examination will be held on September 13.

Here is what Swamy writes in his letter

“There is wide spread desperation amongst the youth since this exam is make or break for them and they have to take it fully prepared. Holding the exam in toy opinion you may lead to a large number of suicides around the country of youth.”

Here is what Supreme Court says

“Cannot put the careers of the lakhs of students in jeopardy as the whole academic year is at stake. Life cannot be put on hold due to COVID-19 crisis.”

Who filed the petition?

Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava filed  the petition  on behalf of 11 students from 11 states across the country who had moved the top court seeking relief amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the JEE Main Admit Card 2020. As many as 9 lakh students are appearing for the exam. Candidates are advised to check the JEE Main Admit Card 2020 download process mentioned below.

  • Go to the JEE Main 2020 Admit Card link
  • Read the instructions
  • Download the JEE Main 2020 Admit Card and take a print out for future use.

About JEE Main Exam

JEE Main is a computer-based test (CBT). It is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) twice a year for admission to 31 National Institute of Technology (NITs), 25 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), and 28 Government Funded Technical Institutes. Students can appear for either one or both entrance examinations. The best of the two scores are considered for the ranking.
