The announcement follows Polaris’ sudden cancellation of their European tour last Wednesday (June 21), citing “a serious personal crisis in our family” as the cause. The band had performed at five different venues when Siew di*d occurred the day following their performance at the Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium.
The sudden news of Siew’s demise raises questions about how it will affect Polaris’ September 7–16 headlining tour of Australia. The band’s third studio album, Fatalism, which was scheduled for release on September 1 is still unconfirmed.
Polaris said in their statement that Siew, who founded the group in 2012 alongside vocalists Jamie Hails and Jake Steinhauser (who also plays bass), drummer Daniel Furnari, and guitarist Rick Schneider, was a man with many positive qualities. “He was kindhearted and clever, funny, brave, and creative, and he was talented beyond all comparison,” they wrote.
