The sage Savran died at the age of 76. His final social media post, published in April, disclosed that he was battling lung cancer and had recently had his right foot amputated.
The native Clevelander moved to Pittsburgh in 1976, as the team was poised to win its first of six Super Bowls. He began his tenure at the defunct KQV before moving to WWSW-AM. He hosted a talk programme on WTAE-TV after ten years at WTAE-AM.
However, Savran was widely recognised as the co-host of the popular television programme “SportsBeat” alongside Guy Junker from 1991 to 2009. The phrase “Stan, Guy, love the show” was frequently uttered by callers to the front desk and has persisted long after the program’s conclusion.
