Gonzalez passed suddenly less than a year after reporting his stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis. Gonzalez revealed in an April 2021 video clip that he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in November 2021. “I kept it to myself and felt selfish since I didn’t want to share my personal business with everyone. But because I am just 34 years old, I believe I can use my circumstance to raise awareness among young men like myself.

“They say it’s uncommon for a young man like me to develop colon cancer,” Gonzalez said in the video, adding that a doctor had given him a two- to five-year prognosis. “I had no idea how to respond. It was just awful,” Gonzalez continued.

Gonzalez also disclosed in the video one of the earliest symptoms that drove him to seek medical attention. “I want to assist others and raise awareness for young guys to have colonoscopies and colon cancer screenings. I realised I had an issue with my upper abdomen since I was constantly in discomfort,” he added.

“Fortunately, my wife advised me to do a colonoscopy because I was scheduled to undergo an EGD [esophagogastroduodenoscopy] through my throat because they believed it was an ulcer or something. But, to make a long tale short, I wished to raise awareness of colon cancer among young men, to encourage them to undergo screenings as early as age 30.
