The KW Siskins are mourning the loss of Tyson, an 18-year-old defenseman. Tuesday, the Waterloo-based minor ice hockey team announced that Tyson had passed away. The hockey association remained silent regardless of the cause of mortality.
In a tragic twist of fate, the ice hockey community is engulfed in profound grief over the irreplaceable loss of Tyson Downs, an exceptionally gifted player from Owen Sound, Ontario. His unexpected departure has sent shockwaves through the depths of countless hearts within his circle of friends and family, companions, and the ice hockey community.
According to his hockey profile, Downs is from Owen Sound and spent one season playing for the KW Siskins.
Curtis Clairmont, a former member of the KW Siskins, remarked, “You could clearly see how he was maturing and the kind of person he was becoming: extremely intelligent and considerate of his teammates. As a result, I knew he was a good person, an exceptional teammate, and a good hockey player.”
Clairmont and the Siskins assert that Downs defenders were extraordinarily strong and attended every game despite residing several hours away.
A help for downs will be conducted on Sunday at the Narrows Shore Field in Owen Sound.
Clairount adds that the group has hired counselors to meet with players who are coping with the death of their companion.
According to his player profile, he played in 45 games and recorded six goals and seventeen assists last season. During the 2023 Sutherland Cup Finals, Downs tallied three goals and contributed fifteen assists.
