Brown was born in Lexington, Kentucky, to entrepreneur and former Kentucky governor John Y. Brown Jr. and former Miss America and businesswoman Phyllis George (1949-2020).
George took time off from her duties on The NFL Today, CBS’s NFL pregame program, to give birth to Pamela. Brown is the half-sister of former Kentucky Secretary of State John Y. Brown Sr; a politician. After 17 years of marriage, Brown’s parents divorced in 1996 when she was 13 years old.
Henry Clay High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill both awarded Brown a degree in broadcast journalism. While attending the University of North Carolina, Brown worked for Carolina Week as a correspondent.
