December SNAP Benefits Chicago: Official numbers show that 1 in 5 families in Illinois will need SNAP benefits to pay for Christmas dinner this year. Because of this, everyone who gets food stamps is waiting for the times when they will start to be sent out this month.
In Illinois, just over 904,000 families will be getting help from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in 2023. The number went up from 15.9% in 2022 to 18.3% in 2023, and it is still the sixth-highest number in the country.
No matter when the head of the household’s Social Security number (SSN) expires in December, the Illinois government will send SNAP payments. The dates will depend on the SSN.
Like every month, people in Chicago and the rest of Illinois whose SSN ends in 1 will get their benefit on the first of the month. On December 2, people with SSNs that end in 2 will get food stamps, and so on until December 10, when people with SSNs that end in 0 will get their benefits.
Anyone who has a new case accepted will get their first benefit between the 1st and 10th of the following month.
