Kalyana Laxmi Scheme 2023: The Telangana government’s Kalyana Laxmi initiative is primarily a welfare programme for impoverished families and the state’s economically disadvantaged class, who are unable to afford the costs of their daughters’ weddings.

The initiative of chief minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao, Kalyana Lakshmi, was designed to be implemented beginning with the Dasara festival. The government will present Tribal and Dalit women who are getting married with a Rs. 51,000 wedding gift under this programme. The Telangana government has invested billions of rupees for the benefit of all eligible impoverished citizens. In addition, the local Mandal office has received 64 Kalyana Lakshmi schemes and 58 Shaadi Mubarak cheques. In the future, the government will ensure that these beneficial programmes reach the impoverished, according to one of the officials.

Kalyana Laxmi Scheme 2023: Main Motto

The initiative provides financial assistance for the daughters’ weddings of all eligible poor families (SC, ST, OBC, and EBC). It is a worthy initiative by the Telangana government for all financially disadvantaged residents of the state.

The scheme essentially consists of two main components.

  • Shaadi Mubarak, a programme for Muslim minority communities
  • Hindu minority households are covered by the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme.
  • On October 2, 2014, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, the chief minister of Telangana, introduced the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme. The scheme provides approximately 50,000 to each family of the state’s designated castes and tribes. This is a fantastic initiative by the government to provide financial assistance to families living below the poverty line who cannot finance their daughters.

Shaadi Mubarak scheme

This scheme is a component of the Kalyana Laxmi scheme, which provides aid to all unmarried Muslim girls belonging to minority communities. A sum of Rs 51,000 is provided at the time of marriage. This scheme is being implemented by the tribal welfare department and the backward classes welfare department for the welfare of all those belonging to the backward classes.

  • The Shaadi Mubarak scheme cannot be combined with other schemes, such as those for intercaste marriages.
  • Currently, only tahsildars can verify the Shaadi Mubarak applications that have been submitted.
  • After authentication, the cheques are issued in the name of the bride’s mother to the intended recipient.
  • This programme has been allocated approximately Rs 300 crore, with 14,381 beneficiaries, and Rs 142,98 crore has been expended.
  • The administration of Telangana takes the necessary, error-free steps to implement the programme in the most efficient manner.
  • Aadhar cards are scanned and validated to prevent misuse.

Budget

  • In 2015, the sanctioned quantity for the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme was 51 thousand rupees.
  • In 2017, the scheme benefit amounted to Rs 75,116.
  • In 2019, a total of Rs 1,001,16 was approved for this scheme.
  • In this initiative, financial assistance to the bride’s family has been increased from Rs 75,116 to Rs 1,000,000 on 19 March 2018 to cover wedding expenses.
  • It is a novel reason for a girl’s wedding, and the annual budget for this initiative is approximately 1,450 crores. The BJP lawmaker stated that the Kalyana
  • Lakshmi initiative would be increased to approximately 1.16 lakh.

Calyana Laxsi scheme eligibility requirements

  • The applicant female for this programme must belong to one of these categories: SC, ST, or OBC.
  • The minimum age to enrol for this programme is 18.
  • Candidates must be Telangana residents.
  • The family’s annual income should not exceed 2,000,000.

Kalyana Laxmi for marriages between castes

The Telangana government has increased incentives to 2.50 lakh rupees.

BPL applicants can enrol in this programme to receive its benefits.

  • Education’s effect on inter-caste marriages
  • Without a doubt, education plays a significant role in making impartial, fast decisions.
  • Inter-caste marriages are heavily influenced by the education level of the bridegroom’s mother.
  • The more educated a person is, the greater their awareness of these legal liberties without hesitation.
  • Examining the impact of education is one of the most enduring caste-based practises in India.

Before Kalyana Laxmi

  • Previously, only 5.8% of marriages were intercaste, according to the 2011 census.
  • However, the number of inter-caste marriages increased from 54 in 2011 to 87 in 2012.
  • And between 2017 and 2018, approximately 789 couples have submitted applications.
  • The quantity is then deposited into a bank account with a three-year hold period.
  • Before, the quantity was only 10,000, then it rose to 50,000, and then it increased to 2.5 lakhs.
  • In 2011, the quantity was subsequently increased to 50,000.

Kalyana Laxmi’s second marriage ends in divorce.

This programme is available only once in a lifetime to all applicants from minority groups. And are still eligible for Rs 1,00,116 in government financial aid.

Given that it is a one-time grant programme: This programme is available to all minority-class families, regardless of whether they are in their first or second marriage.

According to the Telangana government, the scheme is applicable to all minority-classified women, unless the petitioners have previously benefited from the programme.

Also, according to the criteria, not all second-marriage applicants have access to this programme; only those whose spouses are deceased or divorced may receive benefits.
