Property Tax Rebate: Pennsylvanians who qualify for the income and property tax refund programme number over 430,000. The government increased the program’s scope this year to include 175,000 more state homeowners and renters.
The programme is intended to help older people of 65 years of age or older, widows 50 years of age or older, and those with impairments 18.
The income cap was $15,000 for renters and $35,000 for homeowners in prior years. But this year, the administration increased the cap. The income ceiling for both groups will rise to $45,000 as of 2024.
Property Tax Rebate
The programme repaid up to $650 until 2023. This year, the amount was increased to $1,000, contingent upon the beneficiary’s residency and income level.
Individuals earning under $8,000 annually are eligible to obtain the entire $1,000 reimbursement. Individuals who make between $8,001 and $15,000 per year will receive a return of $770, while those who make between $15,001 and $18,000 would receive a refund of $460. In conclusion, those who earn between $18,001 and $45,000 annually will be eligible for a reimbursement of $380.
A 50% bonus will be added to the return for homeowners in Philadelphia, Scranton, and Pittsburgh who make $30,000 or less annually and whose property taxes are more than 15% of their income. This amount is equal to around $190 to $500.
Those who are interested can visit the Department of Revenue offices by appointment or submit their application starting on June 30 on the mypath.pa.gov website.
Refunds will be issued to eligible individuals between July 1 and September 1. If the Department of Revenue determines that it is required to amend or confirm information submitted by the applicant, processing of some applications may take longer than expected.
How Do I Register with the PTRR Programme?
Access MyPath.pa.gov. The online service gateway for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue is called myPATH.
- Within the rebates area, select the “Apply for a Property Tax/Rent Rebate” option.
- Particulars about your income and the amount of rent or property taxes paid must be entered.
- Use the site to submit the application after it has been completed.
- You can quickly follow the status of your application when you file online.
- As soon as your application is submitted, you’ll receive an immediate notification confirming its submission.

Regarding Past Applicants
- The Department of Revenue will automatically issue you a Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) Booklet if you previously submitted a paper rebate application. All the required paperwork and instructions for the current year’s application are included in this booklet.
- If you used a tax preparer or myPATH to file your prior application, you will get a letter of reminder and a rent certificate (if appropriate) in the mail.
