SSI Payments October 2026: People who receive Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, will notice a strange payment schedule in October 2026. Two SSI deposits are set to arrive during the same month.
The first payment is due on Thursday, October 1. That’s the normal payment for October. The next payment is scheduled for Friday, October 30. This second deposit is actually the SSI payment for November, which is being sent early because November 1 falls on a Sunday.
This isn’t an extra SSI check or a bonus. The same monthly benefit is simply being moved to an earlier date. Under Social Security Administration rules, SSI is normally paid on the first day of each month. When that date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the payment is made on the previous business day.

October 2026 SSI Payment Schedule
The official SSA calendar lists October 1 and October 30 as SSI payment dates. Recipients should therefore see their regular October benefit on October 1, while the October 30 deposit will count as November’s payment.
That also means there won’t be another normal SSI payment on November 1. The money for November will already have been sent a few days earlier.
A similar date change will happen later in the year. The December 2026 SSI payment will be made on December 1. Another payment will come on December 31 because January 1, 2027 is a federal holiday. That December 31 payment will be for January 2027.
SSI is a federal program that provides monthly payments to people with limited income and resources who are aged, blind or disabled.
Social Security Payments In October
Regular Social Security retirement, disability and survivor benefits follow a different timetable for most recipients. The payment date is usually based on the person’s birthday.

- People born from the 1st through the 10th are scheduled to receive their payment on Wednesday, October 14.
- Those born from the 11th through the 20th are scheduled for Wednesday, October 21.
- People born from the 21st through the 31st are scheduled for Wednesday, October 28.
People who started receiving Social Security before May 1997, or those who receive both Social Security and SSI, follow a separate schedule. Their Social Security payment is generally dated for the 3rd of the month and SSI for the 1st.
If a payment doesn’t arrive on the expected date, SSA says beneficiaries should allow three additional mailing days before contacting the agency.
