VA Benefits July 2026: Veterans receiving VA disability compensation are seeing higher monthly amounts in 2026 because of the 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment. VA says its compensation rates for 2026 were updated effective December 1, 2025, and the annual COLA is tied to Social Security’s adjustment formula.

For July 2026, the payment calendar has two important dates. The U.S. Treasury’s 2026 recurring benefit schedule shows VA compensation and pension payments on July 1 for the June benefit, and on July 31 for the July benefit because August 1 falls on a weekend. That means the July 31 deposit is not extra money. It is just the regular July payment arriving early.

How the New Rates look

VA’s current 2026 rate table:

  • 10% disability rating: $180.42 a month
  • 20% disability rating: $356.66 a month
  • 30% disability rating: $552.47 a month
  • 40% disability rating: $795.84 a month
  • 50% disability rating: $1,132.90 a month
  • 60% disability rating: $1,435.02 a month
  • 70% disability rating: $1,808.45 a month
  • 80% disability rating: $2,102.15 a month
  • 90% disability rating: $2,362.30 a month
  • 100% disability rating: $3,938.58 a month

VA also says the amount can change when a veteran has a spouse, children, dependent parents, or other added benefits.

What else the COLA affects?

The 2026 COLA is not just for basic disability pay. VA says annual COLA changes apply to VA service-connected disability compensation and also reach other related benefits such as special monthly compensation and survivor benefits like DIC. VA’s special monthly compensation page and survivor compensation pages both show 2026 rates with the same effective date of December 1, 2025.

Veterans who are waiting for a payment should check their bank or direct deposit account first. VA also says direct deposit is the fastest way to get VA payments because the money goes straight into the account without waiting for mail.

If a payment still does not show up, the VA payment history page says eligible veterans can contact the Veterans Help Line after waiting the expected time for the first payment, and the same VA tools can help track payment history and direct deposit details.
