Netherlands Women’s FIFA World Cup 2023 Squad: Full Team Announced

The Dutch were one of the tournament's contenders in England, but were eliminated in the quarterfinals by France.

Netherlands Women’s FIFA World Cup 2023 Squad: The Netherlands Women’s World Cup 2023 squad is currently being assembled, as the Oranje seek to rebound from a disappointing Euro 2022 campaign.

The Dutch were one of the tournament’s contenders in England, but were eliminated in the quarterfinals by France after failing to ignite the competition. The failure cost English coach Mark Parsons his job, and now the World Cup presents its own challenges.

The Oranje will initially be without their charismatic frontwoman, Vivianne Miedema. The legendary Arsenal forward sustained an ACL injury in 2022 and will not have recovered in time to compete. There is, however, a wealth of experience among the remainder of the preliminary squad: the 30 players selected have amassed nearly 1,500 caps between them.

Danielle van de Donk, Miedema’s former Gunners teammate who will turn 32 during the tournament, will presumably play her final World Cup. Jill Roord and Lieke Martens will also be relied upon. There are also three uncapped call-ups, which is intriguing.

Last time, the Dutch were defeated in the final in France; the general consensus is that they will be fortunate to reach the same level this time. Their first encounter will be a rematch against the United States, while their final group match will be a battle for second place against neighbouring Belgium.

Netherlands are in World Cup Group E with the United States, Vietnam, and Portugal. Their first World Cup match will be on July 23 against Portugal. Below is their 30-man provisional World Cup roster, which was announced in May.
