Jio AirFiber, for the unwary, is a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) device that provides a 5G wireless hotspot with fiber-like speeds. The telecommunications provider also hinted that Jio AirFiber users will be able to elect for Jio Cloud PC with AirFiber, a cloud-hosted virtual PC. Mukesh Ambani stated that optical fibre connectivity is difficult to access in remote and remote areas of the country.
The Jio AirFiber will utilise the already established pan-Indian 5G network and cutting-edge wireless technology to eliminate the need for extending optical fibre connectivity to the last mile. The telecommunications provider claimed that its optical fibre connectivity could connect 15,000 premises per day, but with AirFiber, that figure will increase to 1.5 million connections per day.
A recently obtained video reveals that the Jio AirFiber device, like the Airtel Xstream AirFiber device, resembles a tower. The Jio AirFiber consists of two components: a primary router with the Jio 5G SIM that must be set outside to receive the signal, and a second, portable tower that can be placed anywhere within the residence. After booking the service on the Jio website, Jio specialists will implement the entire system.
Once the devices have been installed and activated, users can use the Jio Home app to connect to Jio AiFiber and modify settings such as the password. Jio claims that the AirFiber device can provide bandwidth of up to 1Gbps, which is ideal for all use cases including streaming UHD content and playing online games.
The device supports multiple interfaces and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. Included are WAN, LAN, USB, and a power port. Users can access content by directly connecting their Jio set-top box to the AirFiber device. The USB port enables users to attach a printer or hard drive to share data with other network users.
