Becky Lynch Biography:
Early Life
On January 30, 1987, Rebecca Quin was born in Limerick, Republic of Ireland. Growing up, she watched wrestling events with her brother and developed a lifetime passion in the sport. When she was fifteen years old, she and her brother enrolled in Fergal Devitt and Paul Tracey’s wrestling program. Quin completed five months of training before making her professional debut as Rebecca Knox. She began her career by teaming up with her brother to compete in Irish wrestling competitions and Mixed Tag Team fights. Later on, though, she broadened her horizons and started participating on the European wrestling scene.
Career
Quin participated in the Queens of Chaos promotion in France before winning the World Queens of Chaos Championship in 2006. She debuted in the same year on the independent women’s wrestling promotion All-Women Shimmer Women Athletes, which is based in Chicago. She sustained a major injury above her eye on September 26, 2006, during a German Stampede Wrestling match. Her wrestling career suffered as a result, as she had to postpone the remaining matches for the year.
Quin used this opportunity to pursue a career in acting, making multiple appearances in plays in 2011 and 2012. She came back in 2011 to take over as manager of Saraya and Britani Knight, a mother-daughter tag team. Becky moved to Florida to join W.W.E.’s development zone N.X.T. in 2013 after joining the organization. She adopted Becky Lynch as her ring name during this time, switching from Rebecca Knox to that of the N.X.T. live event in November. On June 26, 2014, she made her television debut in an episode of N.X.T., and on July 13, 2015, she made her main roster debut on an episode of “Raw.”
Achievements
Quin became the first-ever SmackDown Women’s Champion on September 11, 2016, after being selected as the first-ever female draft pick for the SmackDown brand during the 2016 W.W.E. draft. For eighty-four days, she successfully defended her championship. Quin then engaged in a title match in September 2018, emerging victorious for the second time in her career and holding the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She made her television debut in “The Marine 6: Close Quarters” and a 2013 episode of “Vikings.” Colby Lopez, better known as Seth Rollins, is a fellow professional wrestler with whom she started dating in January 2019.
