Bill Goldberg Biography:
Early Life
For Bill Goldberg, an American professional wrestler, actor, and former NFL player, the ring was meant to be his home. The boxer was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and went to high school at Tulsa Edison. As a kid, he wanted to be a professional football player, and he was on the way to making that dream come true until he hurt himself and had to quit.
Career
He started playing college football when he got a contract to play defensive tackle for the University of Georgia’s Bulldogs. He was picked up in the 1990 NFL draft and played for the Los Angeles Rams and other teams until 1995, when he tore his lower abdomen off his pelvis. This finished his football career.
Lex Luger and Sting, two professional wrestlers, found Goldberg in 1996 while he was training for weightlifting and mixed martial arts. Luger and Sting asked him to try wrestling professionally. Goldberg was unsure at first, but in the end, he chose to give it a shot and started training at the W.W.C. Power Plant.
His first win was over Buddy Lee Parker in a Monday Nitro dark match in 1997. Before that, he had lost to Buddy Landell, Hugh Marrus, Chip Minton, and John Betcha. But Chad Fortune beat him in a dark match on Saturday night. Soon, Goldberg was known for his quick wins—often in just two minutes—as well as his high kicks and backflips that happened on the spot. Because he kept winning, he came up with the catchphrase “Who’s next?”
In 1998, Hulk Hogan held the W.C.W. World Heavyweight Championship, which Goldberg was competing for. He faced off against Hogan. After beating Hogan, Goldberg became the W.C.W. World Heavyweight Champion.
Personal Life
In 2018, Goldberg was admitted into the W.W.E. Hall of Fame. He has won many matches over the years, but there have also been feuds and injuries. Goldberg still wrestles today. The pro wrestler has been married to Wanda Darraton since 2005. In 2006, they had a son named Gage A.J. Goldberg.
