During his college years, Vikram also appeared in numerous advertisements as a part-time model. Later, he became an assistant director in the film industry, working for renowned directors such as P. C. Sreeram and Balu Mahendra.

Vikram debuted as an actor in the 1990 Tamil film “En Kadhal Kanmani” and has since appeared in a handful of other films in minor roles. However, it wasn’t until 1999’s “Sethu” that he was recognised as a main actor and established himself as a talented performer.

Chiyaan Vikram Career

Vikram made his début in the 1990 film Meera. After its release, the film performed poorly at the box office. Vikram accepted subsequent proposals and debuted in 1999 with Sethu, his first hit film.

Sethu, which was released in 1999, was Vikram’s first box office success, despite the fact that he made his début nearly a decade earlier. The film earned more than 50 million rupees at the box office. Dhill, Vikram’s second blockbuster, was released in 2001. The film earned more than 100 million rupees at the box office. In 2002, Vikram’s next blockbuster, Gemini, was released. It earned more than 200 million rupees at the box office.

His successful performance prompted Shankar to employ him in his expensive Anniyan production. Anniyan was 2005’s second highest-grossing film, for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actor. The film received eight out of fifteen awards at the 2005 Filmfare Awards South.
In less than five months, Vikram completed the comedy film Asin, Majaa, directed by Shafi. Vikram went on to star in Bheema in October 2005, but the film was severely delayed and did not debut until January 2008. Kanthaswamy, his subsequent film, was the first superhero film in Tamil cinema.

He portrayed a tribal chief and a police officer in the Tamil and Hindi versions, which were filmed almost simultaneously.

Vikram has received multiple accolades for his acting, including seven Filmfare Awards, a National Film Award, and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award. He has also received the Padma Shri award, one of India’s highest civilian honours.
