Eddie Vedder Biography:
Early Life
Edward Louis Severson III became Eddie Jerome Vedder when he was born in Evanston, Illinois. Vedder’s mother gave him a guitar for his 12th birthday. Before moving to Chicago with his family, he went to San Dieguito High School and changed his name to Vedder, which was his mother’s middle name. In the 1980s, he got his GED and went to a community college.
Career
In 1988, Vedder joined the funk-rock band Bad Radio as their lead singer. At the same time, he met Jack Irons and became friends with him. Irons put him in touch with a Seattle band that needed a singer. Pearl Jam was the band, and Vedder recorded three songs with them: “Alive,” “Once,” and “Footsteps.” The record “Temple of the Dog” came out in 1991, a year before Vedder joined the band. They quickly signed with Epic Records. When they released their first studio album, “Ten,” it became one of the best-selling alternative records of the 1990s and was certified platinum 13 times. Pearl Jam released their second album, “Vs.” in 1993.
Five weeks, the Grammy-nominated L.P. was at the top of the “Billboard 200” list. Their third album, “Vitalogy,” came out in 1994. The song “Spin the Black Circle,” which was from the album, won the “Grammy Award” for “Best Hard Rock Performance” in 1996. Vedder began his solo career in 2007 with the release of a record with the same name as the movie “Into the Wild.” The song “Guaranteed” from it won Vedder the 2008 Golden Globe. Since then, he’s put out three more records by himself.
Personal Life
Vedder made a total of 11 studio albums with Pearl Jam. Today, Vedder works with Pearl Jam on design and art projects that aren’t music-related under the name Jerome Turner. Vedder usually doesn’t talk about his relationships, but in 1994, he married Beth Liebling, whom he had been seeing since 1984. In 2000, they got a divorce.
